چکیده

Monitoring using GNSS technology has played a very important role in tracking all manner of items, ranging from dangerous firearms to cash, and to the tracking of stolen vehicles. In different environments there will be times when the surroundings pose problems to the GNSS receiver, such as in the case where shipping containers are being stacked on top of each other, thus limiting the view of the receiver to the open sky. This paper introduces a technique for detecting whether an object has moved from its desired location using measurements from two satellites. This system uses a Time Difference of Arrival (TDOA) measurement obtained from the two range measurements and compares it with the theoretical value calculated using the ephemeris data. By taking the difference of the measured and the calculated TDOA values we are able to obtain a residual in which a probabilistic approach is used to assess if an object has moved from its desired location.

Investigation of the effects of geomagnetic storms on ionospheric irregularities using the combination of ground-based GNSS and SWARM satellites

Geomagnetic storms are one of the main causes of ionospheric perturbations in different sizes, depending on their intensity, which could disturb radio signals passing through this medium. On September 6-12, 2017, the sudden storm commencement (SSC) was the most massive geomagnetic storm of the year due to the X9 solar flare caused by a coronal mass ejection (CME). IMF-Bz and Dst values increase...

Evaluation of Geometric and Atmospheric Doppler for GNSS-RO Payloads

To reduce the sampling rate in global navigation satellite system (GNSS)-radio occultation receivers, it is essential to establish a suitable estimation of Doppler frequency from the received signal in the satellite onboard receiver. This receiver is usually located on low earth orbit satellite and receives GNSS satellites signal in the occultation situation. The occurred Doppler on the signal ...

Spatiotemporal Evaluation of GNSS-R Based on Future Fully Operational Global Multi-GNSS and Eight-LEO Constellations

Spaceborne GNSS-R (global navigation satellite system reflectometry) is an innovative and powerful bistatic radar remote sensing technique that uses specialized GNSS-R instruments on LEO (low Earth orbit) satellites to receive GNSS L-band signals reflected by the Earth’s surface. Unlike monostatic radar, the illuminated areas are elliptical regions centered on specular reflection points. Evalua...

Enhancements of the Range Consensus Algorithm (RANCO)

In anticipation of the future GNSS constellations becoming operational, it will no longer be possible to assume that the probability of failure for more than one satellite within a certain timeframe is negligible. Further, it is questionable whether it is always reasonable to compute a position estimate based on all satellites in view, rather than selecting the “best” subset. The Range Consensu...
